Why some people are not happy with Cricinfo World cup 11 of all time
cricinfo.com , the top website which provide cricket news , score and match previews has recently announced their all time world 11 for the world cups. many people are not happy with the team selected.
cricinfo stated that team is selected by looking at the performance of the players and their role in the world cups played.
Following was the Team.
Most criticism was on the point that why two wicket keepers were selected, when Adam Gilchrist is in the team there was no place for Kumar Sangakara. although people did appreciate his skills and phenomenal records but still felt it was inappropriate choice in the presence of Adam.
Adam was chosen because of his batting style and his record in the world cup as wicket keeper, whereas Kumar Sangakara was chosen because of his batting record in the world cups he played.
Second criticism was on the captain of this team Imran Khan, who lead his team in the 1992 world cup. It was time when Pakistan team was not considered any threat for other teams and it proved wrong. Pakistan lifted the world cup in the leadership of Khan despite of not very great team as other team had at that time. many thought to replace him with Proteas all rounder Jacquise Kallis and make Ponting captain of the team because of his leadership in two and participation in three world cups which Australia won.
some of the critics also said it was useless to include Muttiah Muralitharan when you have Shane Warne. while others were not happy on the inclusion of Lance Klusener.
Many people were giving their own choices on which players should have been included but we should remember that this team was selected after considering many factors like individual performance their leadership qualities and ability to absorb pressure and off course statistics in the world cups they played.
